It's a special code used for classifying goods and conducting operations by customs officials during international shipments. Using an HS Code simplifies customs procedures and helps avoid delays or issues with shipping packages.
At the moment, the code is required for most shipping methods. The code must be specified when sending parcels to Russia using Qwintry Economy and EMS methods, and to other countries using USPS, DHL, FedEx methods.
To find the correct code, use the classifier.
Let's consider an example of finding a code for a cotton men's t-shirt.
First, specify the type of goods (1) and click the «Classify» button(2). If the product has different characteristics, you may need to specify them and provide additional data.
In this example, the T-shirt is intended for men, so we select "Other"(3) instead of "Babies'".
Then specify the material, which in our case is 100% cotton (4). If you have a different material, enter 100% Other or specify the correct fabric composition according to the manufacturer's information. Click «Accept» button (5).
You'll receive the code for the desired product. The classifier is divided into broad and narrower categories, so the code consists of 4, 6, or 10 digits. The more digits, the more specific the code. Currently, carriers require accuracy to six digits. Specifying a code with only four digits is not sufficient because such a category is too broad.
If you provide a detailed description of the product at once, you can obtain the code without additional steps.
If you've checked all options but haven't found a suitable code, you can contact our support service or submit a special request for declaration completion.
